How to extract images from a PDF file.

For extracting images from a pdf file, you need to have Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 9.0 or later). I have version 9.0 with me.

So how to do this ?

First, open the pdf file in Adobe Acrobat,

Just click on Advanced > Document Processing > Export All Images.

You will be asked for a location to save the file. Once you choose the location, all the images from the pdf will get extracted and get saved in the desired location.

Simple !

Extract Images from PDF files

In the next version of Adobe Acrobat i.e. in version 10.0 (also known as Adobe Acrobat X), the path to the tool is a bit different.

It is like :

Tools > Document Processing > Export All Images

Simple again !

But what if you do not have Adobe Acrobat?

Adobe Acrobat is a costly software and in case you don’t have it, I will not advise you to buy it just for extracting the images from a pdf file.

Thankfully, there is a free and fast alternative is available.  There is a company by the name Some PDF ( which has a collection of useful pdf utilities.

One such tiny utility is  ‘Some PDF Images Extract’. It is only 1.5 Mb in size and took only seconds to install.

You may download it from here :

After installation, just choose the source file and press F5 or click on the Start Convert button. Just in a flash, the software will extract images from the pdf files.
