He has admirers in the club.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has emerged as a strong contender to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

A report in The Telegraph suggests that while a decision has yet to be made on Ten Witches, the Dane already has admirers at the club.

Frank has coached the Bees for the past six years, winning promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and finishing ninth at the London club.

The report also states that the 50-year-old had existing relationships with United co-owner Ineos and sporting director Dave Brailsford prior to his investment.

Frank is currently the manager of Brentford. However, if he takes over at United, he will be given the head coaching job, working alongside sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.

Thomas Frank is 'strong contender' to replace Ten Hag at Manchester United

Reports last week suggesting the future of Ten Witches “caused a meltdown in the dressing room”.

While the Dutchman is expected to remain in charge of the club until the end of the season, his future beyond next month remains up in the air.

According to the Daily Mail, the Manchester United manager has been reluctant to make hasty decisions, which has left players feeling uncertain and weakened the manager's control over the team.

According to reports, in addition to Frank, six other players have been selected as potential replacements, including Michel of Girona, currently third in La Liga, and Roberto Deze of Brighton. Erby and Bologna's Thiago Motta.

Sporting Lisbon's Rúben Amorim is also seen as a young and exciting European coach.

England manager Gareth Southgate and former Brighton and Chelsea manager Graham Potter are also admired by United's hierarchy, but questions remain about their ability to command the dressing room.

United, currently eighth in the Premier League, face Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Wednesday before ending a disappointing campaign away to Brighton on Sunday.

However, Ten Hag remains hopeful of a successful season when the Red Devils face arch-rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium at the end of the month.
