Miscellaneous Rambling

For the past few days I have been building a new website as an experiment where I will be selling a clickbank product as an affiliate. I have never build a site, which is completely oriented towards one particular product. However, this site will be like this. I am encouraged to try this experiment of building a site around one particular product after reading some blog posts of a few highly successful affiliate marketers who are applying this strategy quite successfully. So my entire online energy is being spent on planning/promoting this site.

As the site is just in its infant stages with no back links, it would not be proper to reveal its name here. However, if it becomes a profitable one, I’ll surely write about my experience of building/promoting this website.

Working alone has its own merits and demerits. I am also seriously thinking to outsource some of my work so as to burden my pressure. As of now, negotiations are on with a freelancer who will (in all probability) be my first employee.

Life in India is what you can call ‘Business as usual’. Rally, bandh, strike, increasing inflation, cricket and stupid reality shows have become part and parcel of a typical Indian life. The best way to describe India is to call it ‘A comfortable anarchy’ where everything is possible provided you have the right approach and where nothing is possible if your stars are not in your favour.

Well, lots of things here, which remain, unsaid. Hope to find time and write about them soon.

What do you want me to write?

As you can see this blog has very limited activities these days. I am facing time crunch that has almost crippled the availability of quality time . I am seriously thinking to try some sort of outsourcing to ease this time crunch. Meanwhile, I have also thought about the direction I should give to this blog. For this, I have decided to ask my readers what kind of topics they want to read on this blog? I can write on a number of topics such as technology, topics related to politics, economy, sports, society or movies etc.  I can also write exclusively on ‘make money online’ or tips for web designing, Search Engine Optimization, web site promotion, various web scripts , tips & tutorials for webmasters etc.

I request to kindly suggest me on which topic do you want me to write? Should I stick to one main topic or should I keep writing articles on as many diverse topics as possible. I think some suggestions from readers like you will help me decide the main theme of this blog on which I’ll write most.

Why cricket is such a popular game in India?

The IPL fever is in its full intensity in India these days. IPL and its probable winner is one of the hottest topics of discussion here. Many people are of the view that it is one of the best things that ever happens to the game of cricket. In fact IPL has become so popular worldwide that Australian Captain Ricky Ponting had to issue an appeal to his countrymen to focus more on their national team’s recent series with West Indies than to watch their retired cricketers perform in IPL. The entire IPL tournament is being broadcast in Australia as free-to-air and it has become a huge craze.

Why people are so crazy about Cricket especially in India ? Here is my attempt to demystify the secret of this game’s huge popularity in India (and the world at large). Read the rest of this entry »

How to choose a profitable topic for your website

Internet has presented a huge opportunity to people for making money online. Everyday millions of online transactions are taking place. People are buying all kinds of stuff online. This has resulted in an enormous online market for almost everything imaginable. Apart from big online stores like Amazon & Ebay which sell thousands and thousands of items in hundreds of categories, there is an emergence of relatively small websites that caters to only one particular niche. These specific websites are build around a particular niches and sells items related to the niche. For example, the site FamilyPet.com caters only to topics related to Pets and sell products related to pets.

Finding profitable niches and building websites around them has become one of the most trustworthy models for making money from Internet. The reason for calling it trustworthy is that by using right promotional strategies and developing a search engine friendly website, a niche related website can become a huge money-spinner. Google considers affiliate links as Spam ?

It will be a real shock if true i.e. if really comes from Google.

thin_affiliate.gif

Recently I came across a small pdf file (download link in the end) which is being circulated as a leak document from Google internal training manual for ‘Quality Rater’. (The above is a screenshot from that report and the last line is underlined by me). It is not known whether it is a fake report or a real one. However, if it is a real report then it reveals interesting (and a bit shocking information) on the methodology being adopted by Google to rate the quality of its search results. I feel sorry for Tibet

I really mean it. Being a student of meditation, it is my heartfelt desire to visit Tibet once in my life. Once I read in a book that you need not go to any monastery in Tibet for the whole Tibet is a big monastery. Some of the most important research and development in the field of meditation and spirituality have been done in Tibet.

But what an irony it is. This great place of spirituality is now controlled by a Communist Country which has no belief on God ! From what I have read about Tibet in various sources, it appears that there has been a huge cultural invasion in Tibet by the Chinese Government. There has been a systematic strategy on a massive scale to inhabit Tibet with Han ethnic Chinese. Tibetans have been relegated as a minority in their own country. Read the rest of this entry »
