Thanks for comments Michael. Well I think site news means different things to different people. News about Blogs and blogging may not interest a lay reader, however, they may be of great benefit to bloggers who gets recent blogging trends, blogging tips and info about monetizing their Blogs. So in my opinion they caters to their respective niche and are useful in these niche.

Thanks to Rose also for commenting and showing her disagreement with my post. I saw your blog and found that apart from your personal musings, you are also providing some great tips to Bloggers. Now isn't this a niche itself (assisting new bloggers) ? That's what I stressed in this article: Don't be too personal, find a niche and make your useful contribution into it. That's the way to a successful blog.

I agree with you to a point. I don't mind a few personal posts, provided they are interesting. For instance, one of my favourite blogs is by jeffrey Zeldman, where be blogs about web design quite a bit, but spends just as much time on other topics. It's always interesting to read though, because he doesn't fill it with rubbish. (I also like Rose's blog, which she mentioned above. :D )

What do you think about site news though? (As in, news about the blog itself). It doesn't benefit the readers really, but it's not about you either.

I disagree with you here. My blog is a personal blog and while I blog about my personal life, I also assist other bloggers. My personal posts get as many comments as my tips.
