Effect of fluctuation on Indian stock market

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

In my last article I wrote about the reason behind booming stock market in India. When I wrote that article ( only a few days ago actually) the Indian stock market was booming with the huge inflow of money from FIIs. However, suddenly it crashed and lost more than 2000 points in the next few days. In the festive season on Navratra, the pall of gloom engulfedthe market and the mood of investors turned from jubilant a sober.

What actually happened ?

Nothing actually. Read the rest of this entry »

Can you believe it ? People who have defaulted on their home loan in America are making Indian economy stronger. Can there be any relation between a guy who could not pay his loan on time in US and the booming stock markets of India?

Related post plugin of Wordpress : How to install it by running a SQL query

Related post plugin has been one of the most useful and highly recommended plugin which helps increase the visibility of your posts by showing a list of posts related to the current post. It’s a very helpful way to showcase your earlier work in a blogging environment where the older posts get buried deeply easily.

However, many people face difficulty in installing this plugin. The normal method of installing a plugin in Wordpress (WP) is to upload the plugin in the Plugin directory and then activate it through Dashboard. However, apart from this procedure, the ‘Related Post’ plugin also require you to first run a script so that it can index all the posts in your blog. And here lies the problem.

Many people have faced this problem that when they click on run the script (in the Related post option), they got an error message that says:

“Sorry, you must be at least a level 8 users.”

Actually this message is an indication that you need to manually run a SQL query in your Wordpress database. The ‘Read Me’ file of this plugin also says :

“If automatic creation of a full text index fails. You will have to set it up manually. Don’t worry it’s not hard. Just open your database in phpMySQLadmin and run the following command (cut & paste):

ALTER TABLE `wp_posts` ADD FULLTEXT `post_related` (
`post_name` ,
`post_content`
)”

The problem is that most users (included me  ) who are not familiar with SQL or programming etc find it difficult to do this on their own. So here is my tutorial to guide you step-by-step how to run this command. Read the rest of this entry »

Some Blogging trends which are here to stay !

After blogging for quite sometime , I have observed some trends in blogging which are being followed by most of the bloggers. Here are my observations:

(1) Wordpress is the way to go : Slowly but consistently most bloggers are shifting to Wordpress (WP) for their preferred Blogging platform. Wordpress is free, fast and extremely user-friendly. Further it’s army of powerful plug-ins and numerous themes have made it a darling of Bloggers. It has made the web more democratic. Now you don’t need a programming/designing skill to make a decent blog. Now it’s only ‘point and click’ thanks to WP. There are other platform also noticeably Bloggers.com (by Google), Wordpress.com (which give a Wordpress blogs to it’s users), Typepad (another very good Blogging software). However, as of now they are just what we can call ‘also ran’. What Google is for search engine, Wordpress has become for blogging. Read the rest of this entry »

So I’ll use the current wordpress theme

Well not many friends gave their comments. I got two comments and both of them were in the favour my current theme. In offline world also, all those who visited the blog, they recommended the continuation of the current theme. So bye bye 3 column Kubrick :)

I hope my romance with this new WP theme last some longer :)

Which theme is better ? Help me choose

Hi friends,

I have changed the theme of this blog the third time. I found this theme yesterday while surfing the net. I liked it and installed it here. It’s looking fine and even on a 800*600 resoultion it is looking great. However…

Somehow I have started loving my old Kubric three column theme. I am feeling a bit hesitated in changing to the new theme. I request you to kindly tell me which theme should I opt for. Should I continue with the old theme or this new theme is better ? For your convenience, here are the screen shots of both the themes :

Here is the old theme I was using till yesterday.

Mahatma Gandhi: Little known facts most of us don’t know about him

Today is 2nd October the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation or Bapu as he was lovingly called in India. This day is the third and the last national holiday in India (the 26th January - the Republic day and 15th August- the Independence day are the other two).

A debate on the relevancy of Gandhi in today’s time has become a routine affair on every 2nd October. For some people Gandhi is still relevant today whereas some think that India (& the world at large) has changed so drastically that there is no role of Gandhi in it. Read the rest of this entry »
